About the Role

The Associate Dean for Undergraduate & Graduate Programs in the College of Business reports directly to the Dean of the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business (LCoB) and is a member of the LCoB management team. This role serves as the administrative head of undergraduate, graduate, professional, and executive education programs, overseeing day-to-day operations and representing the College in the Dean’s absence. The Associate Dean participates in strategic planning for all domestic and international educational activities, including degree and non-degree programs.

Current degree programs include:

  • Undergraduate program with 14 concentrations
  • MBA (Early Career and Professional formats)
  • MS in Accountancy & Analytics
  • MS in Financial Analytics
  • MS in Taxation
  • MS in Transportation Management
  • Three partner programs: MS Medical Product Development Management, MS Engineering Management, and MS Biotechnology

Non-degree programs include advanced certificates in accounting, business analytics, global leadership, taxation, and transportation management. The College also partners in the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) Consortium and offers custom executive/professional education programs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage undergraduate enrollment, impaction planning, retention efforts, and student academic welfare.
  • Oversee development and delivery of the BSBA degree through SJSU Online, collaborating with program directors and campus units.
  • Coordinate with curriculum committees to maintain cutting-edge course content and relevance.
  • Direct enrollment management, rankings, and marketing communications for all programs.
  • Design initiatives and partnerships to enhance educational quality and the College’s reputation.
  • Support Assurance of Learning (AoL) efforts aligned with AACSB standards.
  • Oversee relations with Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) regarding fee-based programs.
  • Maintain economic viability of programs, including special session programs, in collaboration with the Dean and Director of Resources & Operations.
  • Oversee recruiting, admitting, advising, scheduling, retaining, and graduating students in state-supported and non-state-supported programs.
  • Manage collaborations with partner institutions and executive/professional education programs.
  • Implement programs to ensure compliance with SJSU and CSU requirements and resolve faculty-student conflicts.
  • Oversee graduate program directors, EMBA Consortium Director, and executive education directors, including their training and development.
  • Exercise signature authority on student petitions and forms outside normal admission/retention ranges.
  • Champion programs promoting student access and resolve student concerns/complaints.
  • Coordinate with instructional design services for curriculum development.
  • Recommend initiatives to improve College and University services, including branding and outreach.
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain guidelines, policies, and procedures for curricular and student services.

Requirements

  • A relevant doctoral degree or terminal degree as specified by AACSB standards.
  • Three years of relevant administrative experience in a business or academic setting.
  • Academic qualification per AACSB standards.
  • A record of scholarly work and teaching sufficient for tenure as a full professor in an AACSB-accredited business school.
