About the Opportunity

The Associate Data Engineer supports the External Data function within the Data Science team. This role focuses on building and maintaining data pipelines that integrate third-party data into underwriting, claims, and business intelligence processes. It plays a crucial part in ensuring reliable data delivery for analytics and modeling, contributing to informed decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines feeding a cloud data warehouse
• Develop, schedule, and monitor cloud data jobs, troubleshoot failures, and optimize performance and costs
• Implement load logic to prevent duplicate data during reprocessing and backfills
• Integrate external data providers and APIs with appropriate authentication and error handling
• Conduct data quality checks, validation, and alerting to detect pipeline issues early
• Manage pipeline deployment using infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices
• Support data migrations and service updates ensuring minimal downtime
• Provide clean, analytics-ready datasets for data scientists and analysts

Requirements

• 1 to 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or related software/data roles
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
• Proficiency in Python and SQL programming
• Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data pipeline construction
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform, preferably AWS
• Familiarity with REST APIs and external data source integration
• Strong focus on data quality and reliability
• Effective communication skills with technical and business stakeholders

Pay Range and Compensation Package

Annual base pay ranges from $71,600 to $105,000 depending on experience and other factors.
