Associate, Data Engineer

About the role
Serve as a data engineer in a project team working across the Atlanta and Gurgaon (India) offices on the data pipeline that serves client-facing websites and reports for BlackRock’s model portfolio business. Participate in the Agile delivery process of the team: planning, implementation, testing, release management, and CI/CD.
Maintain strong collaboration across global team locations, as well as with other teams, including Product Managers, Data Analysts, Technical Operations, Release Managers, and various business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design, code, test, and support reliable, robust product data pipeline software with high-quality standards through the entire Software Development Lifecycle.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve data discrepancies by finding the root cause of issues; work with partners across multi-functional teams to prevent future occurrences.
- Proactively look for opportunities to optimize the data loading process and develop innovative approaches to improve onboarding and data integrity.
- Stay abreast of new data technologies, drive technical research, and conduct Proof of Concept activities when needed.
- Provide basic reporting and respond to inquiries asking for insights about data sets from senior partners in a timely fashion.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Science or a related field.
- 24 months of experience in the job offered or a closely related role.
- Experience with the design, coding, testing, and support of data pipeline software.
- Agile delivery process experience.
- Proficiency with data technologies in enterprise systems, relational SQL, and big data frameworks for distributed storage and processing of large datasets.
- Experience with big data analytics platforms for scalable batch and stream processing.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB, AWS DynamoDB, Google Firestore, flexible JSON document data stores, or NoSQL datastores.
- Hands-on development of enterprise backend applications and data pipelines in Java or Python.
- Experience with data platforms and tools including Databricks, Snowflake, and Azure Data Factory.
- Technical research and Proof of Concept activities.
- Ability to articulate technical concepts both written and orally to internal stakeholders.
- Knowledge of ETFs and product launches.
Pay
$130,000 – $148,000 per year. Employees are also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

Schedule
BlackRock’s hybrid work model requires employees to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
