Purpose of Role

The Associate Counsel, Commercial provides legal support across a broad range of commercial and contractual matters, partnering closely with business stakeholders and members of the Commercial Legal team. This role will primarily support transactions and relationships managed by UA’s Global Technology and Supply Chain teams, while also acting as a generalist across other commercial areas.

Qualifications

  • Law degree from a reputable, accredited university required.
  • Candidate must be admitted to practice law and in good standing in a jurisdiction within the U.S.
  • 5–8 years of law firm and/or in-house experience and demonstrate a strong interest in continuing to develop as a commercial generalist within an in-house legal team.
  • Prior experience supporting on general commercial and contract matters, ideally for a multinational consumer product brand.
  • Strong experience in negotiating and interpreting complex contracts.
  • Superior analytic, writing, editing and oral/written communication skills.
  • Able to prioritize, organize and work efficiently in a high-volume, results-oriented environment.
  • Highly organized with strong problem solving skills and a drive for efficiency.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage expectations.
  • Good people skills and the ability to interface with business teammates and patiently assist internal clients in their preparation for and negotiation of contract documents.
  • Strong business acumen, creative problem solver with a track record of providing guidance and risk-appropriate, solutions-oriented advice to legal issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a wide range of other disciplines, sometimes across regions, cultures and time zones.
  • Thrives being part of a team, both leading and serving; demonstrated deep commitment to colleagues; highly effective in a matrix environment.
