Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate a wide range of construction and commercial contracts
- Work with the legal team to advise senior-level executives on legal, operational, compliance and regulatory risk and corporate governance matters
- Develop and implement strategies across the organization to improve our legal processes and reduce risk
- Develop strategies for resolving disputes and claims, supervise outside counsel on litigation, and represent OHLA in mediations as client representative
- Tour our projects throughout the region and assist project staff as necessary
Qualifications
- Education: Juris Doctor or LL.M degree
- NY Bar
- Experience: At least 5+ years of experience with background in public contracting, infrastructure projects, bidding, or procurement (whether in a government role, in-house, or with a law firm)
Skills
- Fluency with legal research tools, MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and proficiency in MS Excel
- Analytical skills and ability to develop reasoning independently
- Bright writing skills - ability to craft compelling and persuasive narratives and draft favorable agreements without legalese
- Eagerness to learn and think creatively
- Meticulous attention to detail
