Associate Counsel

Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of construction and commercial contracts
  • Work with the legal team to advise senior-level executives on legal, operational, compliance and regulatory risk and corporate governance matters
  • Develop and implement strategies across the organization to improve our legal processes and reduce risk
  • Develop strategies for resolving disputes and claims, supervise outside counsel on litigation, and represent OHLA in mediations as client representative
  • Tour our projects throughout the region and assist project staff as necessary

Qualifications

  • Education: Juris Doctor or LL.M degree
  • NY Bar
  • Experience: At least 5+ years of experience with background in public contracting, infrastructure projects, bidding, or procurement (whether in a government role, in-house, or with a law firm)

Skills

  • Fluency with legal research tools, MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and proficiency in MS Excel
  • Analytical skills and ability to develop reasoning independently
  • Bright writing skills - ability to craft compelling and persuasive narratives and draft favorable agreements without legalese
  • Eagerness to learn and think creatively
  • Meticulous attention to detail
