Associate - Corporate Finance & Accounting
About the role
We are currently looking for an Accounting Associate to join our Corporate Finance and Accounting team. The Accounting Associate will be responsible for a variety of corporate accounting functions, including processing accounts payable (with on-site presence in our Hallowell, Maine office), journal entry posting, depositing checks to bank, accounts receivable posting, account reconciliations, and assisting with annual audit documentation collection. Additional clerical and accounting duties will be assigned as necessary. The role also includes serving as backup support to other finance staff.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable with in-office presence in Hallowell, Maine
- Post journal entries and deposit checks to bank
- Post accounts receivable and perform account reconciliations
- Assist with annual audit documentation collection
- Provide backup support to other finance staff as needed
- Perform other clerical and accounting duties as assigned
Requirements
- Required Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business, or a financial-related field
- Associate’s degree or equivalent related work experience with a minimum of four years
- Preferred experience with general ledger and accounts payable duties
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal, written, and active listening skills with the ability to communicate effectively across teams
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in current Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT or similar financial management software is preferred
Preferred Skills
- Nonprofit experience, particularly in fast-growing environments with limited budgets and resources
- Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT
Location and Work Environment
The primary location of this position is hybrid, with at least three days per week in the office. Periodic meetings, conferences, training, and other business-related events may be held in various public places such as hotel conference rooms.
Pay Grade
Grade 3 (Maine pay range: $52,000–$58,000, non-exempt)
