Amazon is seeking an Associate Product Counsel to support Alexa, Amazon's AI-powered voice assistant used by millions of customers worldwide. In this role, you will partner closely with product, engineering, privacy, and business teams at one of the most innovative companies in the world to help launch new features, advise on emerging technologies, and deliver on Amazon’s commitment to delight customers.
Responsibilities
- Serve as product counsel on strategic initiatives, product launches, and commercial matters for the Alexa business
- Advise product, engineering, and business teams on legal considerations and risks related to AI-powered products, voice technology, consumer devices, and digital services
- Structure, draft, negotiate, and advise on complex technology, licensing, distribution, marketing, and commercial agreements
- Provide practical legal guidance in a wide range of areas, including intellectual property, privacy, consumer protection, digital media, and regulatory compliance matters
- Counsel teams throughout the product lifecycle, from concept and development through launch and post-launch operations, including pre-litigation disputes and inquiries
- Develop creative, business-oriented solutions and strategies to mitigate legal risk while supporting innovation and growth
- Support the development of scalable legal frameworks and processes that enable rapid product development while maintaining customer trust and minimizing risk
- Collaborate cross-functionally with a wide variety of stakeholders, such as engineering, product management, privacy, public policy, and business development
Qualifications
- 3+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience advising on voice technology, AI/ML products, or consumer electronics legal matters
- Background in privacy law and data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, or similar frameworks)
- Experience working with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and business development
- Experience handling regulatory compliance matters for consumer-facing technology products
- Experience using AI for legal research, contract analysis, or document review
- Experience with technology transactions or their equivalent
