Associate Computer & Electrical Engineer - Software

About the role

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) Examination Design Projects subdivision is seeking a software engineer to develop precision mechatronic examination systems for inspecting irradiated fuel from the Navy's submarines and aircraft carriers. Responsibilities include:

• Developing new examination systems for three new facilities dedicated to processing and testing spent nuclear fuel.
• Performing major system upgrades to continue examinations at the current test facility until new facilities are deployed.

You will architect, design, and deploy custom software solutions for control systems focusing on X, Y, Z axis motion control, data acquisition and processing, and database design. The role involves hands-on laboratory work and office-based tasks such as developing design documentation and authoring software code. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and electrical engineers, test sponsors, and operations personnel at Naval Reactors Facility (NRF), is essential to deliver cutting-edge solutions for examining spent nuclear fuel and performing irradiation testing.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field; or a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field.

Pay

Pay Range: $63,900.00 - $97,800.00 annually. Salary is based on candidate experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP). All candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to pass a drug test.
