Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead initiatives related to clinical quality, patient safety, utilization review, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee peer review processes, FPPE/OPPE programs, and clinical performance improvement.
  • Drive improvements in key metrics including LOS, CMI, throughput, Leapfrog, STARS, and patient experience.
  • Ensure adherence to Joint Commission and Department of Health standards.
  • Serve as liaison to the Medical Executive Committee (MEC), Medical Staff Board, and key committees.
  • Oversee medical staff governance, bylaws, and policy development.
  • Support onboarding and engagement of new and existing physicians.
  • Partner with department chairs to ensure effective physician performance oversight and alignment.
  • Partner with hospital leadership to improve patient flow, care coordination, and operational efficiency.
  • Support case management and utilization management programs.
  • Participate in accreditation, licensure, and survey readiness activities.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to optimize clinical and support service structures.
  • Lead the advancement of value-based, patient-centered care models.
  • Drive care pathway redesign, access strategies, and site-of-care optimization.
  • Expand digital health, telemedicine, and hybrid care delivery models.
  • Support population health and chronic disease management initiatives.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify and execute growth opportunities and market expansion strategies.
  • Support physician alignment, practice acquisitions, and partnership development.
  • Provide clinical leadership for service line growth and network development.
  • Represent the organization in business planning and strategic initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community and independent physicians.
  • Strengthen referral networks and reduce outmigration.
  • Represent Jefferson Health in regional and professional forums.
  • Support the development of a high-performing, integrated physician network.
  • Provide oversight of key areas including: Case Management & Utilization Review (LOS, throughput), Residency programs at JEM Acute Care Surgery and priority clinical programs, CMI and acuity optimization in partnership with HIM, Quality and patient experience initiatives.
  • Partner with administrative teams on budget development and financial performance.
  • Participate in data analysis, benchmarking, and special projects.
  • Align clinical initiatives with organizational financial and operational goals.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, communication, and accountability.
  • Conduct regular leadership rounding with patients, staff, and providers.
  • Ensure delivery of an excellent patient experience across all care settings.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO required.
  • Board Certification in a clinical practice specialty required.
  • Active Medical License in Pennsylvania.
  • 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in hospital or health system medical leadership.
  • 3-5 years experience in quality improvement, medical staff governance, and clinical operations.
  • Demonstrated success in physician engagement, program development, and change management.
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in clinical transformation, population health, or business development (strongly preferred).
