Associate Chemist - Environment Testing - 2nd Shift, Tues-Sat

About the Role

This position involves completing all training in a timely manner and working with an experienced analyst/mentor to prepare samples and standards for analysis. You will run instrumentation independently and/or with guidance, including GC/FID, GC/TCD, purge and trap GC, and GC/ELCD for routine and non-routine analyses of QC and clients' samples for TPH, DRO, alcohols, light gases, and other related compounds in accordance with SOPs. Additional responsibilities include performing routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, making dilutions, proper documentation, and proficiency with departmental computer programs and LIMS for data evaluation and sample tracking.

Responsibilities

• Apply GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate.
• Demonstrate and promote the company vision through regular attendance and punctuality.
• Prepare reagents, samples, and standards according to procedures using proper documentation.
• Perform laboratory operations with good laboratory technique and high degree of accuracy and precision.
• Document testing, observations, deviations, and results clearly and completely, in compliance with SOP, regulatory, and client requirements.
• Understand and perform calculations as required by testing methods.
• Read and understand analytical procedures and internal SOPs.
• Utilize computers to access information, process data, generate reports, and evaluate data; upload data to LIMS.
• Detect problems which could affect results and bring these to the attention of department management.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance and calibration of equipment.
• Work overtime as workload requires.
• Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule

This position will be Tues–Sat, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM. Training will be Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field, or equivalent relevant experience in the field.
• Professional working proficiency in English is required, including the ability to read, write, and speak in English.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Preferred Skills

• BS in Chemistry with Analytical Chemistry coursework.
• Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail.
• Previous experience in a lab setting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.

Pay

Pay rate: $18–19/hour + 10% shift differential.
