Associate Buyer

Secures raw materials, components, and services at the right cost, quality, and timing to keep Flexfab production running smoothly. Builds vendor relationships, maintains accurate purchasing data, and lives Flexfab’s HEARTS values every day.

Responsibilities

  • Place and track purchase orders that meet material specifications and required dates
  • Compare quotes and recommend cost-effective options that meet all standards
  • Maintain accurate lead times, pricing, and delivery status in the ERP system
  • Monitor open orders, follow up on late deliveries, and communicate changes to stakeholders
  • Resolve order discrepancies quickly with Quality, Production, and Accounting
  • Prepare basic spend-analysis reports showing savings and supplier performance
  • Support vendor onboarding and performance reviews with timely, accurate data
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings, offering respectful input that drives shared success
  • Communicate transparently, own mistakes, and seek feedback for continuous learning
  • Contribute ideas that improve cost, efficiency, or service

Success Measures

  • On-time delivery: purchased items arrive when needed, meeting department targets
  • Cost performance: meets or improves cost-saving and cost-avoidance department goals
  • Data accuracy: keeps ERP purchasing data within the accuracy threshold
  • Issue resolution: closes purchasing discrepancies within needed turnaround time
  • Continuous improvement: regularly contributes verified process improvements and completes the personal development plan

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • One or more years of experience in purchasing, supply chain or a similar manufacturing/operations support role

Working Conditions

  • Regular use of computer system, purchasing software, email and telephone communication
  • Primary on-site office environment within a manufacturing facility
  • Frequent interaction with suppliers, production personnel, and cross-functional teams
  • Limited travel for supplier visits or training may be required
