Associate Bridge Inspection, Structural Engineer
WSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Bridge Inspection, Structural Engineer to join our Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team in New England, which includes offices in Boston, MA; Worcester, MA; Glastonbury, CT; and Providence, RI. Positions based out of Glastonbury, CT will primarily support Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Bridge Inspection projects statewide.

Responsibilities
- Work as a Team Member on Bridge, Tunnel, and Ancillary Inspections.
- Assist in the preparation of Bridge & Tunnel Load Ratings.
- Assist with the development of plans/sketches using AutoCAD.
- Work with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
- Support engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Bridge and Transportation Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support preparation of cost proposals and scope of work documents.
- Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
- Complete training on assignment-specific tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
This position involves approximately 50% field work and 50% office work, including physically demanding tasks such as working at heights, in close quarters, climbing, carrying equipment, and working in adverse weather conditions or at night.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in bridge, tunnel, or ancillary inspection or design, or other infrastructure-related work.
- Demonstrated interest in structures, transportation, or related fields with a strong desire to advance relevant skills.
- Physically capable of performing continuous field work, including working at heights, in close quarters, climbing, carrying ladders and gear, and working in adverse weather conditions or at night.
- Valid Driver’s License and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record check.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
- Occasional travel, including potential overnight stays, depending on project requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Active membership and/or participation in local professional practice organizations.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Pay
Expected salary range (all locations): $71,200 - $111,650. The final compensation will be based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal equity, as well as geographic location.
