Associate (Bonds)
About the role
We are seeking a transactional associate to join our Ann Arbor, Michigan office. Ideal candidates will have 2+ years of experience in a transactional legal practice, be motivated self-starters with excellent communication skills, a commitment to ethics and excellence, and enjoy a fast-paced professional environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and negotiation of financing documents for various types of projects, including hospitals, affordable housing, clean water, airports, and education facilities.
- Work closely with clients, project sponsors, and other legal professionals to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Contribute to the development of new business opportunities and proposals within the public finance sector.
- Provide legal advice and support to clients on matters related to project financing, including bond issuance, loan agreements, and other contractual arrangements.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative solutions to complex legal challenges.
Requirements
- Michigan bar admission, or pending bar admission on comity, is required.
- Strong academic credentials, typically a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with legal research databases.
Qualifications
- Experience in public finance transactions, particularly in healthcare, housing, and infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing public finance transactions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills

Pay
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The ideal candidate will be able to work full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
