About the role
The Associate Behavioral Health Counselor works in various settings including clinics, hospitals, and communities to provide counseling and treatment to individuals with mental health, substance use, and other related issues.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs and develop treatment plans
- Implement and evaluate treatment interventions
- Document treatment sessions
- Provide patient progress updates to interdisciplinary teams
- Educate patient support members about patient issues and interventions
- Refer for additional clinical services or to specialists as needed
- Stay current on emerging issues in the profession
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in behavioral sciences or related field preferred
- At least 4,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, substance use disorders, or emotional disturbances
- At least 2,000 hours of supervised work experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, substance use disorders, or emotional disturbances
