About the role
Associates in our workers’ compensation practice defend claims against employers in nearly every industry and represent the interest of the client with the support of one or more partners. This position handles a caseload, manages deadlines, conducts depositions of parties, lay witnesses, medical providers and experts; represents clients in mediations, drafts briefs and motions, prepares for and conducts and argues in hearings before an administrative commission.
Responsibilities
- Perform legal analysis on new and existing claims
- Investigate cases and review and analyze medical records
- Develop case strategy
- Respond to discovery
- Draft motions
- Take depositions
- Attend hearings, mediations, and negotiate settlements
- Build relationships with a team of attorneys as well as clients including insurance adjusters and risk managers
- Create and submit reports required by the client
- Draft motions and briefs to support the position of the client
Requirements
- Currently licensed in the state of South Carolina
- Strong writing skills with deposition and mediation experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Able to work independently
- Organized and self-motivated
