Associate Attorney (Tax)

About the role

Kirton McConkie, a large Salt Lake City law firm, seeks an exempt organizations tax associate with 2-5 years of relevant law firm experience to join its Tax practice group. This position will focus primarily on federal tax matters for nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations.

Responsibilities

• Advising nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations on federal tax matters, including matters involving tax exempt status, unrelated business income, public charity and private foundation rules, governance, and compliance.
• Experience with corporate and partnership taxation, state and local taxation, international tax, or state nonprofit laws and regulations is also valuable.

• Be highly motivated and hard-working.
• Be able to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be a member of the Utah Bar or be willing to become a member of the Utah Bar.

Skills

• Experience with exempt organizations tax matters.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws.
• Ability to advise on nonprofit and tax-exempt organization governance and compliance.
