Associate Attorney | Medical Malpractice Defense
Job Details
We are seeking a Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney to join our Tampa office and handle healthcare liability matters from initial case evaluation through resolution.
Responsibilities
- Manage medical malpractice defense cases involving healthcare providers, hospitals, facilities, and insurers
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, medical chronologies, and case evaluations
- Conduct depositions of parties, experts, medical providers, and key witnesses
- Analyze medical records and work closely with expert witnesses
- Prepare for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial
- Develop litigation strategy and communicate regularly with clients and carriers
- Handle court appearances and support all phases of case preparation
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active Florida Bar admission in good standing
- Prior medical malpractice defense, healthcare liability, insurance defense, or civil litigation experience
- Strong legal writing, research, and case management skills
- Experience handling discovery, depositions, motion practice, and client reporting
- Ability to analyze medical records and complex liability issues
- Trial preparation experience preferred but not required
