About the Opportunity
A national litigation defense firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing Kansas City practice. This opportunity is well suited for a civil litigator who wants substantive responsibility, hands-on litigation experience, and the opportunity to develop within a national defense platform. The attorney will manage an active caseload while working closely with experienced partners on matters throughout Missouri, Kansas, and beyond.
Practice Focus
The firm is seeking candidates with civil litigation defense experience, with particular interest in attorneys who have exposure to:
- Insurance Defense
- Insurance Coverage
- Construction Litigation
- General Civil Litigation
- Complex Liability Matters
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple active litigation matters
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and dispositive motions
- Draft and respond to written discovery
- Conduct legal research and case analysis
- Prepare for and take depositions of parties and experts
- Review client documents and prepare case evaluations and status reports
- Participate in mediations and court appearances
- Work directly with partners on case strategy and litigation management
Qualifications
- 2+ years of civil litigation defense experience
- Missouri and Kansas Bar admission required
- Knowledge of state and federal court procedures
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Deposition and discovery experience
- Ability to independently manage multiple matters and competing deadlines
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and professional communication skills

- Construction litigation experience
