About the role
We are a consumer protection law firm based in the Financial District of New York City. Our firm provides representation to consumers who have been harassed or deceived by creditors and debt collectors. We are seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Chicago office.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and supervise a heavy & diversified caseload of the Firm’s clients in Illinois.
- Communicate with clients regarding their respective matters.
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, review and draft agreements, etc.
- Communicate with opposing parties to resolve/settle claims.
- Conduct legal research related to simple and complex issues in contract law and other areas of consumer law.
- Travel for in-court appearances (while this role is hybrid).
Requirements
- Must be currently admitted to practice law in Illinois.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience at a law firm.
- Superior organizational & time-management skills to meet strict deadlines.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Highest ethical standards and professional integrity.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work easily with senior management and employees at all levels throughout the organization.
- Strong legal research skills -- proficiency in LexisNexis is a plus.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
