Associate Attorney
About the Role
An established civil trial law practice serving businesses and individuals throughout Texas is seeking an experienced Civil Trial Associate Attorney to join its litigation team. This position offers the opportunity to manage a defense litigation caseload from inception through trial while collaborating closely with senior attorneys on strategy and courtroom execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defense litigation, particularly insurance defense, and demonstrate confidence in handling matters independently in a fast-paced trial-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage a litigation docket from initial filing through trial
- Conduct legal research and analysis on defense-related matters
- Draft motions, pleadings, briefs, and substantive legal filings
- Prepare and respond to written discovery and discovery motions
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Represent clients at hearings, mediations, and trial proceedings
- Develop case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys
- Interview witnesses and conduct factual investigations
- Maintain organized and accurate case files (including electronic records)
- Stay current on relevant statutes, case law, and procedural rules
- Uphold the highest ethical and professional standards
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active Texas Bar license in good standing
- Minimum of 3 years of defense litigation experience (insurance defense preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Texas civil procedure and rules of evidence
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload
- Strong oral advocacy and courtroom presence
- Proficiency in legal research platforms and litigation management tools
- Professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

Pay
Starting at $100,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
