Associate Attorney

About the role

A nationally recognized trial law firm specializing in civil litigation is seeking an attorney with 3+ years of litigation experience to join its growing Houston office. Insurance Defense and Insurance Staff Counsel experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex commercial litigation matters from inception through trial or settlement
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
• Prepare for and attend hearings, depositions, and mediation with witness responsibility
• Prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients
• Negotiate settlements for legal disputes
• Comply with all legal standards and regulations
• Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to the State Bar of Texas and in good standing
• Previous experience in a Law Firm environment
• Ability to take and defend depositions
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to build rapport with clients
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
