About the role
Our client is a client-focused law firm committed to vigorously protecting and advising individuals and organizations while pursuing the best attainable outcomes for each matter. The Associate Attorney will work fully onsite in the Virginia Beach, VA office in a full-time capacity, supporting litigation and advisory matters, primarily focused on medical malpractice defense.
Responsibilities
- Conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs, and preparing correspondence, contracts, and advisory memoranda
- Providing client-focused legal advice, participating in negotiations, assisting with discovery and trial preparation, and appearing in court or administrative proceedings as needed
- Collaborating with senior attorneys, meeting directly with clients, managing assigned case files, and helping develop strategic case plans aligned with client goals
- Maintaining accurate documentation, staying current with relevant laws and regulations, and contributing to a professional, team-oriented work environment
Qualifications
- Strong foundational knowledge of law and demonstrated ability to apply legal principles in practice
- Experience in civil litigation is required, with experience in medical malpractice defense preferred but not required
- Prior courtroom, deposition, and/or trial experience is highly preferred
- Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice tailored to client needs while exercising sound judgment
- Proficient legal research skills, including research using case law, statutes, regulations, and secondary sources
- Effective negotiation skills for resolving disputes, engaging with opposing counsel, and advocating for client interests
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in Virginia, or eligibility to obtain admission promptly
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple matters under deadlines
- Commitment to professional ethics, client service, teamwork, and continuous learning in a trial-oriented environment
Pay
The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $160,000, depending on experience.
