Associate Attorney
About the role
Segal McCambridge is seeking associates for our insurance practice group in Austin. The position is on an active litigation docket specializing in the defense of first-party lawsuits brought against large national insurance carriers. Associates are provided the freedom and responsibility to manage their own case assignments and can expect to handle all aspects of litigation related to their files, with the assistance and mentoring of senior team members. The litigated matters include claims asserted under both personal and commercial lines of insurance, including residential property, commercial property, uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, and other commercial business coverages.
This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys looking to hone their litigation skills while receiving training and mentorship from partners with deep experience in these practice areas.
Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings, motions, and written discovery
- Conduct depositions and other facets of the litigation process
- Manage multiple case assignments and deadlines
- Take ownership of projects and assignments proactively
Requirements
- Current, active license to practice law in Texas
- Excellent legal-research, writing, and advocacy skills
- Experience in litigation processes, including motion practice and depositions
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Proven ability to produce top-quality work
- Willingness to be proactive and take ownership of projects
