Job Summary

Attorney will assist firm in developing office and state practice in North Carolina and overseeing collection litigation for the states. Candidates must have substantial experience in the courtroom, in the area of creditors’ rights and consumer laws (both state and federal), in drafting forms and in performing legal research.

About the Role

This position involves administrative responsibilities such as preparing forms and developing processes, as well as full litigation responsibilities including reviewing correspondence, files, pleadings, motions, and discovery, and attending hearings and trials. Candidates should be knowledgeable in post-judgment remedies including attachment and garnishment. The Attorney will manage a high-volume docket of civil litigation cases in the area of debt-collection through all phases of litigation from commencement through post-judgment actions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing office and state practice in North Carolina and overseeing collection litigation for the states.
  • Provide substantial experience in the courtroom, in the area of creditors’ rights and consumer laws (both state and federal).
  • Draft forms and perform legal research.
  • Prepare forms and develop processes.
  • Review and/or approve all pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Attend all types of hearings and trials in a high volume environment.
  • Manage high-volume docket of civil litigation cases in the area of debt-collection through all phases of litigation from commencement through post-judgment actions.
  • Be knowledgeable in post-judgment remedies including attachment and garnishment.

Requirements

  • Bar admission in North Carolina.
  • Possession of a Juris Doctor law degree.
  • Preference given to attorneys licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a general litigation attorney.
  • Preferred experience in creditor’s rights litigation.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize high volumes of information.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm.

Schedule

8-hour shift Monday to Friday with flexibility to support business needs.

Pay

$80,000 to $90,000 per year
