Associate Attorney
Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. (QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm and the largest minority-owned law firm in the United States, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Tallahassee office. This is a full-time, in-office position.
About the Role
We are seeking an Associate Attorney with 2+ years of civil litigation or insurance defense experience to join our growing Tallahassee office. The ideal candidate will have a strong litigation foundation, excellent research and writing skills, and the ability to effectively manage cases in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position offers the opportunity to handle a diverse caseload, gain meaningful litigation experience, and work alongside experienced attorneys representing a variety of clients.
Responsibilities
- Manage an active caseload through all phases of litigation
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related documents
- Conduct legal research and assist in developing case strategy
- Handle written discovery and participate in fact and expert discovery
- Take and defend depositions
- Attend hearings, mediations, case management conferences, and other court proceedings
- Assist with and participate in trial preparation
- Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other parties
- Maintain compliance with court deadlines and client reporting requirements
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure effective and efficient case management
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active member in good standing with the Florida Bar
- 2+ years of civil litigation or insurance defense experience
- Experience handling insurance defense matters preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Experience with discovery, depositions, hearings, and motion practice preferred
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced litigation environment
- Strong commitment to client service and collaborative teamwork
