Represent institutional mortgage lenders and servicers in bankruptcy matters with a focus on protecting and enforcing secured-creditor rights in Chapters 7, 13, and 11. Provide end-to-end legal strategy across the lifecycle of a bankruptcy case, including proof of claim, motions for relief from stay, plan review and objection, loan modification and loss-mitigation oversight, and post-petition compliance. Advise clients on complex bankruptcy, servicing, and investor-guideline issues to ensure regulatory compliance, minimize financial risk, and maximize recoveries while maintaining borrower-facing and court-facing credibility.
Responsibilities
- Represent creditors in Texas Bankruptcy Courts in Chapters 7, 13, and 11
- Develop and execute legal strategy for bankruptcy cases, including proof of claim, motions for relief from stay, plan review and objection
- Oversee loan modification and loss-mitigation processes
- Ensure post-petition compliance and regulatory adherence
- Analyze case law and provide actionable recommendations to clients
- Attend hearings and mediations throughout the State of Texas
- Manage a high case volume in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks as needed
- Work a case file from start to finish with attention to detail
- Collaborate with team members while maintaining individual accountability
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and promote quality
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience as an Attorney in the Bankruptcy arena, with at least 1 year representing creditors in Texas Bankruptcy Courts
- Active member of the Bar in good standing
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and reprioritize in a dynamic environment
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local bankruptcy laws and rules
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and comfort with technology
- Superior organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Self-motivated with a willingness to adapt to change
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship (no CPT, OPT, STEM OPT, or visa support provided)
