Associate Attorney

About the role

Hawkins Parnell & Young LLP is seeking a well-rounded, highly-motivated litigation attorney with 1-4 years of experience for its Dallas, Texas office. The successful candidate will join a national team of 300 lawyers and professional staff across ten offices located in Atlanta, Austin, Charleston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Napa, New York, St. Louis, and San Francisco.

HPY represents a variety of clients—from global corporations to small local businesses and individuals—in high-risk litigation and business disputes across the country and U.S. Territories. This opportunity offers broad experience and the chance to gain trial experience from a dedicated and successful litigation team.

Responsibilities

• Trial preparation, including strategy discussion, discovery, records review, client interviews, and witness preparation
• Legal and factual research, including investigations of people, businesses, and worksites
• Drafting of briefs, memos, and client updates
• Attendance at depositions, hearings, and/or mediations

Requirements

• Active Texas bar license in good standing
• 1-4 years of litigation experience
• Strong academic credentials and a writing sample required
• Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a high-paced environment with strict deadlines and competing priorities
• Self-starter who can handle multiple projects independently while working collaboratively in a team
• Client-focused mentality with initiative and willingness to embrace challenges

Participation in law review, moot court, and prior deposition experience are a plus.
