Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of civil litigation matters from intake through resolution, including settlement and trial.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other court documents with accuracy and attention to deadlines.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda and persuasive written arguments on complex legal issues.
- Prepare for and take depositions, examine witnesses, and work with experts to develop case strategy.
- Represent clients at hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials in state and/or federal court.
- Develop case strategies in collaboration with partners and senior attorneys, including settlement analysis and risk assessment.
- Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel to manage expectations and advance case goals.
- Supervise and mentor paralegals and junior staff, delegate tasks, and review work product for quality and compliance.
- Manage case calendars, meet court-imposed deadlines, and ensure compliance with local rules and procedures.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active admission to the state bar.
- Minimum 2 years of civil litigation experience preferred; open to attorneys with 2+ years of litigation experience depending on candidate strength.
- Demonstrated experience with all phases of litigation, including drafting motions, discovery, depositions, and courtroom appearances.
- Strong legal research and writing skills, with the ability to prepare persuasive briefs and client communications.
- Excellent oral advocacy, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; comfortable arguing motions and handling hearings.
- Familiarity with settlement negotiation strategies and experience resolving matters favorably for clients.
- Nice-to-have: experience in business litigation, personal injury, and construction law matters.
- Experience taking and defending depositions, working in court, and participating in trials is a plus.
- Proficiency with case management software, e-filing systems, and standard office technology.
- Strong organization, time management, and ability to manage multiple matters under tight deadlines.
