Associate

Weber Gallagher is seeking an associate attorney with strong experience in insurance coverage law to join our team. The ideal candidate will work hands-on with complex coverage matters in a hybrid role from any state where we have an office.

About the role

This position offers the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule from our offices in Bedminster, New Jersey; Long Island, New York; or Chicago, Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal analysis and advice to insurance carriers on a wide range of coverage issues
• Handle all aspects of insurance coverage litigation, including declaratory judgment actions and bad faith claims
• Participate in strategic case planning and risk assessment
• Draft coverage opinions, pleadings, written discovery, motions, and participate in arbitrations and trials
• Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses
• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to develop sound case strategies
• Communicate with clients, the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel
• Provide regular and timely updates to clients on case status, strategy, and potential outcomes
• Work collaboratively with partners, associates, and legal staff
• Manage cases while adhering to billing and budget requirements
• Travel for court, client meetings, and other professional obligations

Requirements

• 3–7 or more years of experience in third-party insurance coverage law
• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Must be licensed to practice in any state where Weber Gallagher has an office
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Proven track record of success in courtroom appearances, depositions, and settlement negotiations

Pay

Salary starts at $110,000 plus, based on education, experience, and internal equity.
