About the role
This position involves analyzing, designing, and developing a data platform, starting with a reference data system for securities and pricing data, and expanding to other data domains. You will collaborate with business teams, product managers, IT architects, database administrators, and cybersecurity teams to meet application requirements. Additionally, you will partner with UI/UX designers and front-end engineers to create intuitive interfaces and integrate applications within the company’s software ecosystem. The role supports hybrid remote work.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, and develop the data platform, beginning with a reference data system for securities and pricing data.
- Follow internal development standards to contribute to the team’s overall agenda.
- Work with business teams, product managers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and address process gaps.
- Engage with IT systems architects, database administrators, and the cybersecurity team to meet back-end functionality demands.
- Partner with graphic artists, UI designers, and front-end engineers to optimize user experience.
- Coordinate with other technology and development teams to integrate applications into the company’s software ecosystem.
- Participate in development meetings to align priorities, assign tasks, and share challenges.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in computer science or a related field plus 4 years of experience.
- Experience with Python programming, building resilient APIs, Azure Databricks, Spark, and Polars Python frameworks/libraries.
- Experience with fixed income and equities reference data, and Bloomberg reference data.
Pay
The anticipated salary range for this role is $189,592.00 to $195,280.00. The specific salary offered will be based on individual qualifications, experience, geographic location, and market conditions for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award.

Schedule
This role follows a hybrid workforce model, allowing employees to work both remotely and from an SMBC office. Employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned office location. Hybrid work schedules will be discussed during the interview process. Certain roles, such as FINRA-registered positions, may require full-time in-office attendance.
