Associate, Alternatives Fund Accounting
About This Role
Join our Fund Services – Accounting team as a Fund Accounting Associate. This role is ideal for candidates with at least a year of foundational experience in Private Equity fund accounting and offers an opportunity to grow in a high-impact environment. You’ll work on core accounting processes and client reporting for Private Equity funds.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare quarterly management accounts for Private Equity funds.
- Handle NAV calculations, management fees, and assist in waterfall computations (including carry, equalization, and late closing interest).
- Maintain and process accounting records, including journal entries and general ledger updates.
- Support annual fund audits and liaise with external auditors and clients.
- Prepare draft annual financial statements under UK/US GAAP; exposure to IFRS, Canadian GAAP, and Lux GAAP is a plus.
- Collaborate with the tax team for timely completion of tax engagements and accurate accruals.
- Aid in preparing regulatory returns as required.
- Support cash management functions and treasury operations (bank reconciliations, liquidity monitoring, payment releases).
- Participate in team initiatives, including training and onboarding new clients.
What We're Looking For
Minimum 1 – 3 years of experience in Private Equity Fund Accounting [Prior Accounting experience a plus]. University degree in accounting and/or finance. Desire to study CPA, CA, CFA, CAIA, ACCA, or other accounting/finance certification(s) preferred. Hands-on exposure to NAV calculations, management fees, and waterfall computations. Conceptual understanding of the complexities of preparing the financials from a trial balance manually. Working knowledge of US or UK GAAP; familiarity with IFRS or other GAAPs is a plus. Proficiency in MS Excel and other Microsoft tools. Experience with accounting systems or reporting tools a plus; FIA knowledge is advantageous but not required. Detail-oriented, eager to learn, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
