Associate Actuary - North America Property Pricing

About the role

Join AIG’s world-class actuarial function as an Associate Actuary supporting North America Property pricing, including Retail, Lexington, and Canada. You will streamline processes across property segments, implement best-practice analytical techniques, and collaborate with catastrophe modelers, reserving actuaries, and the Chief Underwriting Office to quantify risk, refine pricing, and identify profitable growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Review and improve pricing-system parameters; monitor underwriter adherence to pricing procedures and methodologies.
  • Coordinate pricing, planning, and accumulation management with the cat-modeling team to ensure risk-adjusted returns that account for expected loss, reinsurance costs, and capital needs.
  • Develop analytical tools to help underwriters assess insured risks, aligning the pricing framework across underwriting platforms and business classes.
  • Work with reserving actuaries to understand reserve development and ensure pricing actions are appropriately recognized.
  • Recommend rating methodologies, parameters, and tools to improve technical pricing accuracy in response to market, economic, and product changes.
  • Align tools, reporting metrics, and goals organizationally to optimize team efficiency and consistency across property portfolios.
  • Partner with the Chief Underwriting Office to develop pricing and underwriting strategies, identifying profitable opportunities and areas needing improvement.

Requirements

  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) or higher.
  • At least 5 years of commercial lines actuarial experience, with significant commercial property pricing experience preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to present clear, concise analysis and recommendations to senior management.
  • Willingness and ability to continuously learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Solid understanding of catastrophe modeling fundamentals.
  • Strong attention to detail and timeliness.

Pay

Base salary ranges by location:

  • New York: $120,000 – $150,000
  • New Jersey: $115,000 – $148,000
  • Illinois: $110,000 – $145,000

Eligible for a bonus under the applicable incentive plan.
