About the role

The Associate – Actuary at Augment Risk will gain strong exposure to both the analytical and transactional sides of the business, focusing on structuring and placing reinsurance programs and delivering efficient capital outcomes for clients. They will collaborate with brokers, clients, and reinsurers to execute transactions and provide insights on portfolio performance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the structuring and placement of reinsurance programs, focusing on optimal and efficient capital solutions for clients
  • Analyse client portfolios to inform pricing, structuring, and strategic recommendations
  • Prepare clear, concise, and high-quality analytical materials for client discussions and market engagement
  • Collaborate with brokers, clients, and reinsurers to execute transactions and respond to queries in a timely manner
  • Provide insights on portfolio performance and support ongoing client advisory work
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of actuarial models and analytical tools
  • Support the development of the team’s technology and data strategy
  • Manage, mentor, and develop junior analysts, including reviewing work and supporting their technical and professional growth
  • Support ad hoc analytical and strategic projects as required

Requirements

Minimum 5 years’ experience in actuarial or related analytical roles within the reinsurance/insurance space. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint essential. Progression through actuarial exams is highly desirable. Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, SQL, or similar) are desirable. Understanding of reinsurance structures, pricing, and capital management is advantageous. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across internal and external stakeholders. Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members is a plus.

Qualifications

Advanced degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. Professional certification in actuarial science preferred.
