About the Role
The Accounting Associate is a key member of the two-person Accounting team for Johnson Management (JM). This role involves a broad range of accounting functions, including journal entries, financial statement preparation, and process improvements. The position supports a variety of asset types and industry segments, including private and marketable securities.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Accounting Manager and broader team in daily accounting operations.
- Take primary responsibility for general ledgers and posting journal entries for various entities.
- Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Complete bank, investment, and loan reconciliations for Johnson Management entities.
- Ensure data received from third parties is recorded accurately.
- Process payments and maintain accounts payable aging and ledgers for various entities.
- Create quarterly loan statements.
- Assist in ad hoc reporting as needed.
- Streamline processes and drive efficiencies within the accounting department.
- Uphold the Company’s Guiding Principles in daily work.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in an accounting role.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint).
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, non-structured work environment and self-direct initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MRI and Nexus Payables accounting software.
- Experience with Sage Intacct.
- Experience in the real estate industry.
