PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Associate Accountant will prepare and analyze financial information to provide accurate and useful information to management for review and decision making. This position exists to ensure accounting processes are completed thoroughly and accurately, while aligning with Company standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Works alongside the core Accounting team in preparing income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other accounting statements and reports.
- Partners with internal departments and external banking partners to research and resolve issues relating to cash management, banking transactions, and accounting processes.
- Performs general ledger reconciliations for key accounts that are critical to the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
- Affords daily banking activities, including Positive Pay administration, stop payment requests, check exception processing, and other treasury-related banking transactions.
- Prepares journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded, properly supported, and compliant with company policies and accounting standards.
- Affords remote check deposit processing, ensuring timely and accurate deposit of checks and proper coding to the appropriate general ledger accounts.
- Makes recommendations to improve processes by analyzing standard operating procedures.
- Affords assistance in special studies and development of improved methods and procedures.
- Executes general accounting assignments or projects with accuracy and in a timely manner.

Education And Experience
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or related accounting support functions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field a plus.
- Experience with automated accounting and financial management systems.

Knowledge And Skills
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and interact effectively with management, employees and auditors.
- Must have the ability to convey financial information to non-financial users.
- Ability to work independently and meet stringent deadlines.
- Organizational ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and to prepare clear and concise reports.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
