About the role
The Associate Clinical Therapist, working alongside a licensed professional, will assess and treat individuals with mental illnesses or substance abuse disorder. Such services include individual and group therapy, outreach, crisis intervention, social rehabilitation and teaching skills for everyday living for patients of all ages (children, adolescents, adult and geriatric issues) in a behavioral health environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychosocial assessments of patients and families to identify emotional, social, and environmental strengths and problems related to their diagnosis, illness, treatment, and/or life situation.
- Aid in creating a comprehensive psychosocial treatment plan utilizing appropriate clinical social work treatments and interventions.
- Intervene in crisis situations, conduct individual, marital, family, and group therapies, and provide grief and bereavement support.
- Screen, diagnose, and assist in the treatment of mental health and/or substance abuse problems in patients and family members.
- Assist with screening, identifying, diagnosing, managing, and treating victims of abuse, neglect, domestic violence, rape, etc.
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant medical/legal issues affecting patient care, such as advance directives, child and elder abuse.
- Offer education to patients and families on adapting to their diagnosis, illness, treatment, and life situation.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary health care teams.
- Keep abreast of community agencies and resources and maintain working relationships with them.
- Document assessment, plan, interactions, and interventions according to departmental, hospital, and/or health system guidelines and standards.
- Attend and participate in staff, committee, department, and other administrative meetings.
- Stay updated with social work and health care developments and enhance job-related knowledge.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in related field.
- One of the following licenses as required by state board where services will be provided:
- WV: Temporary Social Worker License OR Licensed Graduate Social Worker through the West Virginia Board of Social Work OR Licensed Professional Counselor Temporary Permit or Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor through the West Virginia Board of Examiners in Counseling
- OH: Licensed Social Worker through the Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist Board
- MD: Licensed Master Social Worker OR Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor through the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners
- P业: Licensed Social Worker through the Pennsylvania Department of State Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs
Qualifications
- Must possess ONE of the following licenses as required by state board where services will be provided.
