Full-time, regular position located in the Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Oklahoma City.
About the Role
Positions in this job family are responsible for providing training and/or instruction in Assistive Technology, including computer access technology for blind and visually impaired adults and transition-aged clients. This role may be filled at Level I or Level II.
Responsibilities
- Provide training and instruction on technology devices, software programs, and basic computer operation to enhance clients' technology skills, either one-on-one or in a lab classroom setting.
- Maintain all Assistive Technology (AT) Lab equipment, including performing software updates as needed.
- Maintain inventory of all lab equipment.
- Assess levels of achievement and evaluate programs to determine further client needs; refer clients to other community resources for specialized instruction or training as needed.
- Maintain records of participant attendance and progress; prepare regular reports for submission to the project supervisor.
- Develop and conduct various types of assistive technology training, including preparing lesson plans, conducting classes, workshops, or seminars, and evaluating participant results.
- Ensure AT Lab equipment is in working order and perform regular software updates.
- Maintain a list of all AT Lab equipment and its location, including returned, repossessed, or loaned equipment.
- Keep training records for each participant and report progress and/or issues regularly to the Programs Manager.
- Perform all job-related travel as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- For Level I: Substitute one year of training, adult education, or human resource development for each year of required education.
- For Level II: Bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in training, adult education, or human resource development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of assistive technology devices, software programs, and computer operations.
- Knowledge of instruction techniques and the special problems of the population served.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to develop successful training techniques and supervise/instruct students.
- For Level II: Ability to plan and conduct employee training programs.
- Must be willing to perform job-related travel.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Pay
- Level I (Pay Band I): $3,608.259 monthly / $43,299.11 annually
- Level II (Pay Band J): $4,108.104 monthly / $49,297.25 annually
