Assistant Youth Mentor - Before/After School Enrichment

About the role

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA seeks an experienced professional passionate about nurturing great minds and building strong communities. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating engaging learning environments and fostering positive relationships with children and their families.

Responsibilities

• Finding new and innovative ways to teach kids while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
• Implementing and overseeing curriculum that is child-centered and developmentally appropriate.
• Maintaining accurate attendance records, emergency contact information, and allergy reports.
• Ensuring centers are well-maintained with quality learning materials and organized appropriately.
• Attending monthly team planning meetings to collaborate and support each other.
• Communicating effectively with parents and guardians, providing timely updates and addressing concerns.
• Using positive reinforcement techniques for behavior management and offering encouraging feedback.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent, or enrollment in 2+ years of child development coursework.
• At least 2+ years of verified child care experience.
• Prior experience working with children in various capacities (professional, volunteer, or familial).
• A passion for working with children in a fun and diverse environment.
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances and maintain ongoing training in child care-related topics.

Pay

$16.00-$16.50 per hour
