• Possess and maintain proper Connecticut Certification.
• Have a strong background in the sport.
• Such alternatives to the above as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

About the Role

To help each student/athlete achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the welfare and conduct of team members from the time they report for practice or a game until they leave the school at the end of the activity.
• Exemplify the highest ideals of good sportsmanship and offer respect and empathy to each athlete as an individual.
• Serve as a model in the education of the student athlete, never placing the value of winning above the value of character building.
• Show respect and give support to contest officials; avoid conduct that incites players or spectators against officials or each other.
