Assistant Warehouse Operations Manager

About the role

The Assistant Warehouse Manager is responsible for all warehouse personnel and coordinating all assignments with the warehouse manager. Tasks may include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

• Hires, orients, trains, and issues corrective action (when applicable) to team members
• Reviews and approves payroll on a weekly basis
• Documents and informs manager of all priority tasks and personnel problems
• Knows and understands all phases of shipping and receiving
• Completes or follows through all assigned tasks by the manager
• Responsible for building security at the end of the shift
• All UPS and all local parcel delivery services in that department
• All A.M. freight orders shipped and filled to ensure customer satisfaction
• Regularly checks the overall appearance of the warehouse daily
• Checks timecards and faxes proper documents when required
• Reports any problems to the manager with written documentation
• Effective scheduling and control of labor in receiving, freight, and other A.M. shift personnel
• Controls forklift costs and maintenance
• Takes pride in your surroundings by helping maintain a clean workspace
• Other duties as determined by the needs of the business

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least 18 years of age
• Working knowledge of material handling
• Ability to design warehouse layouts
• Ability to communicate on a management level
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
