Assistant Vice President - Mass Tort and Complex Casualty

About the role

Join us as a Mass Tort and Complex Casualty Assistant Vice President to play your part in transforming the way we help customers manage risk. You'll work with some of the best claims and underwriting minds in the industry, addressing challenging claims and sophisticated coverage issues, and helping our businesses develop products to address the rapidly evolving risk environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and guide appropriate reserving, expense and payments within your claims team
• Develop your team’s claims handling skills, with a focus on proactive investigation, evaluation, and resolution
• Manage and oversee communication between your team and Insureds and other external clients
• Empower and lead the claims adjusters to embody AIG’s corporate values
• Identify and escalate complex claims to senior management with significant coverage, loss, or other issues
• Support departmental initiatives focusing on improved claim processes, claims results and financial results
• Lead training and development initiatives to educate and instruct claims adjusters on trends and emerging issues
• Communicate clearly with Actuarial and Underwriting on relevant claims, case law, and other trend information
• Participate in a robust feedback loop with Underwriting on client renewals and new business opportunities

Requirements

• 5+ years of Legal, Insurance, Construction Defect or Environmental experience preferred
• Demonstrated experience with evaluations and investigations addressing coverage, liability and damage issues
• Strong communication skills, in addition to the ability to prepare and present information in a concise and persuasive manner
• Drive collaborative behavior with leadership team across the wider business
• Ability to develop and execute creative solutions to difficult problems impacting our business partners

Benefits

• Base salary range: $126,000 - $171,000 for positions in New Jersey
• Base salary range: $125,000 - $173,000 for positions in Illinois
• Eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan
