About the role
The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking an Assistant VDC Manager to lead multi-discipline BIM coordination efforts for either a Subcontractor or General Contractor. Experience in the Federal sector is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing RFPs and specifications for BIM requirements.
- Developing BIM Execution Plans.
- Evaluating Design Intent models for constructability and accuracy.
- Creating virtual simulations to validate and improve site logistics, safety concerns, building sequencing, and scheduling.
- Developing BIM scope language for BIM participating trade partners.
- Leading collaborative meetings with trade partners and designers to resolve above ceiling conflicts using virtual models.
- Producing clash reports and action items for distribution to all BIM stakeholders.
- Assisting with Virtual mock-ups and gap modeling specific systems.
- Generating and tracking RFIs resulting from the Virtual Build Process.
- Developing composite shop drawing submittals.
- Testing new software programs and technologies and making recommendations on use for project-specific needs.
- Using 4D Scheduling Tools (Synchro, Fuzor or similar).
Requirements
- Proficient in reading and understanding construction drawings and interpreting construction schedules.
- Adept in coordination management software used to aggregate BIMs and run conflict detection.
- Experienced in Autodesk products including Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage.
- Knowledge of cloud-based common data environments such as Sharepoint and Autodesk Forma and Desktop Connector.
- Experience with BIM issue tracking software such as BIM Collaborate and Revizto.
Qualifications
- Intermediate knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.
- Thrive in a team environment contributing to both large projects and producing independent work.
- Innately curious, forward-thinking personality to push innovative ideas in all aspects of daily tasks.
- Able to multi-task and work concurrently on multiple projects.
Skills
- Excellent General Computing Skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Autodesk products including Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage.
- Experience with cloud-based common data environments such as Sharepoint and Autodesk Forma and Desktop Connector.
- Experience with BIM issue tracking software such as BIM Collaborate and Revizto.
