Responsibilities

  • Litigate a broad range of cases involving significant, complex issues on behalf of the United States in federal court.
  • Work on land condemnation matters and related cases involving the border with Mexico.
  • Engage in immigration enforcement matters, issuing warrants, defending asylum and passport cases, and general civil litigation.
  • Participate in first-chair jury trials as experience progresses.

Requirements

  • J.D. degree and active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction).
  • At least 1 year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Pay

Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of pay for this position (including locality) is $85,270.00 to $195,100.00.

Schedule

Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.

Qualification Requirements

  • J.D. Degree.
  • Active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction).
  • At least 1 year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
