About the role
This position is housed in the athletic department and reports to the Director of Track and Field and ultimately the Athletics Director or sport supervisor. The Assistant Coach will design, organize, implement, facilitate, oversee and evaluate all facets of a Big Sky, NCAA Division I assigned sport program, including recruiting, camp coordination, public appearances, and compliance with university, Big Sky, and NCAA rules.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the administration, planning and organization of pre-season, in-season, and post-season programs, including practice planning and scheduling
- Facilitate the learning and teaching of proper skill execution and safety techniques
- Work with the Athletics Business Department for team and travel needs, manage travel arrangements, and ensure timely submission of travel advances
- Ensure compliance with NCAA and Big Sky Conference rules; maintain records and monitor student-athlete academic progress quarterly
- Collaborate with Physical Education, equipment staff, sports medicine, classified staff, Assistant Athletic Director for Student Success, and Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance
- Assist in recruiting, talent evaluation, training, teaching, and development of student-athletes within the team concept
- Assist in scheduling, budget management, supervision of additional staff, and monitoring academic progress of the team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- One year of track and field coaching experience
- Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within the first 60 days of employment
- Demonstrated high degree of interest, ability, and/or experience promoting cultural competency or diversity
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Collegiate coaching experience in throws
- Three or more years of collegiate track and field coaching experience
- Collegiate recruiting experience at the NCAA level
- Collegiate track and field experience as a student-athlete

Pay
The salary range for this position is $52,276.00, with the starting salary dependent on education, experience, and skills.
