Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide coaching and instruction to student-athletes participating in the sprints and vertical jumps events.
- Develop a weekly schedule for training/practice and communicate this to the athletes on a consistent basis.
- Attendance at practices which typically occur weekdays in evenings (fall/spring) or early mornings (Nov-Mar) and meets which typically occur on Fridays and/or weekends (mostly Saturdays).
- Oversee strength development and/or plyometric routines and/or collaborate with other coaches on staff or within the strength and conditioning department to ensure these routines are instructed and completed correctly.
- Affiliate with administrative duties to include completing meet entries online by specified deadlines.
- Affiliate with actively recruiting new student-athletes to the program that meet the stringent academic requirements of the college and are compatible with a Division III program (e.g. non-scholarship, etc).
- Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship, and conduct representative of the coaching profession.
- Adhere to all Lasell University, NCAA and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) bylaws, rules and philosophies, and work to educate the student-athletes about those tenets.
- Mentor and develop a positive culture for student-athletes.
- Ensure set-up/clean-up of equipment (e.g. sleds, starting blocks, hurdles, etc) to facilitate sprint/jump training as needed on a daily basis.
