About the role
The Department of Medicine at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a dedicated and academically driven GI Medicine Physician to join our multidisciplinary clinical and translational research team. This opportunity offers the unique ability to balance high-quality patient care with meaningful scientific discovery within one of the nation’s premier cancer centers.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional patient-centered care for individuals with gastrointestinal and oncology-related medical conditions
- Devote approximately 60–80% effort to clinical activities and 20–40% to translational and clinical research initiatives
- Participate in translational research efforts, clinical trials, and collaborative scientific investigations
- Pursue grant opportunities and contribute to securing research funding aligned with academic and scientific interests
- Publish and present scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals and academic forums
- Foster productive collaboration between clinical and laboratory research teams across Roswell Park and external institutions
- Contribute to the Translational Research Group (TRG) and institutional committee activities
- Mentor and educate fellows, residents, advanced practice providers, medical students, and junior faculty
- Support the educational mission through teaching, mentorship, and academic engagement
- Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with clinicians, investigators, and research teams across disciplines
- Foster a culture of innovation, scientific rigor, compassion, and operational excellence aligned with High Reliability Organization principles
Qualifications
- MD, DO, or equivalent degree with training and expertise in Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Oncology, or a related specialty
- A strong commitment to balancing clinical excellence with impactful translational and clinical research
- Experience or interest in clinical trials, translational investigation, and collaborative scientific discovery
- Demonstrated scholarly productivity, including publications, presentations, or grant participation
- A collaborative and intellectually curious approach to multidisciplinary medicine and research
- A passion for mentorship, education, and developing future clinicians and physician-scientists
- An executive presence and the ability to communicate effectively across clinical, academic, and research environments
- An interest in fostering productive relationships between laboratory and clinical research programs
- A commitment to evidence-based care, scientific integrity, patient-centered medicine, and continuous professional development
