Assistant Technical Designer, Tailoring

Overview

Veronica Beard is seeking an Assistant Technical Designer to partner with Design, Product Development, and Production teams to ensure garments meet fit, construction, and quality standards while maintaining brand integrity.

Responsibilities

• Measure samples, support Technical Design Team, and participate in fit sessions as needed.
• Collaborate with domestic patternmakers and factories to troubleshoot technical issues, ensure accurate execution, and communicate precise fit and construction corrections.
• Absorb and evaluate samples to ensure quality and construction standards are met.
• Create fit lists weekly, scheduling accurate fit time with model agencies and cross-functional teams.
• Maintain organization of sample closet & archive.
• Maintain organization of patterns and cutters musts.
• Prepare fit comments, including sketching (flat technical sketches with detail) as needed and analyzing garment construction.
• Responsible for shipping samples to factories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor, Associate, or Technical Degree in Patternmaking or/and Technical Design.
• 1-2 years technical design or pattern-making work experience.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, textiles, and fit principles.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, PLM systems, and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills for vendor correspondence.
• Organization and time management skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Pay

The hourly rate for this role is between $24.00 and $26.00. The relevant hourly rate will vary depending on wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training, degrees, and certifications.
