About the Role

The Goddard School is seeking part-time and full-time preschool assistant teachers to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals interested in a career in early childhood education or college students looking to gain teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment for all children
  • Support each child’s social and emotional development
  • Establish positive and effective family relations and communication
  • Work with the lead teacher and in conjunction with the entire faculty

Requirements

  • Available Monday-Friday 1:00 PM - 5:30 PM
  • High School Diploma (required)
  • Some Early Childhood coursework (preferred)
  • Develops relationships and communicates effectively with children, parents, and faculty
  • Works productively without supervision
  • Shows empathy and compassion for young children
  • Dependable, adaptable, and enjoys working toward a common goal
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an outstanding ability to listen and follow up constructively
  • Ability to calmly address stressful situations professionally while multitasking
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. for child safety and emergency situations (e.g., handling children, facilitating programs)
  • For Infant and Young Toddler Teachers: must be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib
