Assistant Teacher (Float) (Part-time): Glendale, AZ
About the Role
As a part-time Assistant Teacher (Float) at Bezos Academy, you share our passion for early childhood education and commitment to creating nurturing, high-quality learning environments for all children. You will support high quality, tuition-free, Montessori-inspired programs in under-resourced communities, assisting in classrooms, supervising mealtimes, and supporting overall school operations.

Schedule
This is a part-time, non-exempt/hourly position requiring a minimum of 20-25 hours per week, with occasional opportunities for additional hours. You will work a four or five-hour shift, Monday through Friday. Specific schedules are determined by school leaders.
- Sahuaro Glenn: 25 hours per week; expected daily shift 9:30am-2:30pm
Pay
The full compensation range for this position is $19-$22 per hour, with a starting pay of $19 per hour.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Age 18 with high school diploma or GED
- Six or more months of prior work experience in childcare, education, or a related setting
- Ability to pass background checks, clear tuberculosis screenings, and complete state-required trainings to supervise children independently
- Ability to independently supervise, communicate effectively with, and care for young children safely, including lifting a minimum of 40 lbs
- Access to reliable transportation and consistent attendance to maintain staff-to-child ratios
- Valid Food Handler’s Permit or willingness to obtain one upon hire
- Ability to complete 20 hours of onboarding by your seventh day of employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated reliability and flexibility in supporting school operations (e.g., meal service, playground supervision, classroom coverage, after-school activities)
- Prior experience supporting or teaching children ages 3–5 in a Montessori or early childhood classroom setting
- Experience working effectively across lines of difference and fostering an inclusive environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with ability to manage daily operational tasks (e.g., classroom setup, safety checks, clerical responsibilities)
Responsibilities
Instructional
- Serve as a floating assistant teacher, providing support wherever needed each day
- Independently supervise children during arrival/departure, transitions, outside time, rest/nap time, and extended hours
- Assist in maintaining accurate child and family records
- Complete Montessori basics training and credentialing/licensing requirements within seven days of hire
Operational Support
- Follow regulations and guidelines in day-to-day classroom and school operations (e.g., cleaning/preparing materials, meal prep and cleanup, nap time transitions, laundry, bathroom supervision)
- Support school leadership and teachers to foster a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment
- Help children develop independence with daily living skills (e.g., washing hands, using the bathroom, eating meals, cleaning up)
- Maintain licensing and credentialing requirements and complete ongoing professional development
- Assume postures at low levels (e.g., kneeling, stooping, bending, sitting on the floor) to communicate effectively with children
Other
- Attend staff meetings and family events as schedule allows
- Provide support to nearby Bezos Academy schools as needed, at the direction of your Head of School or District School Leader
