Assistant Teacher
About the role
The Goddard School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Teacher. This position will assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, prepare classroom materials, supervise children, communicate with families, and adhere to health and safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the implementation of lesson plans
- Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, clean, and inviting learning environment
- Supervise and provide individualized support to children
- Communicate with families about their child’s progress and daily activities
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations
- Support daily care routines and tasks
Requirements
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred
- Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
- Show empathy and compassion for young children
- Work productively without supervision
- Basic understanding of child development
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
